Disasters in Slow Motion (pt. 18) - Jul 19, 2020

July 19 (20:02 GMT) - Actual Numbers vs. July 12 (14:35 GMT)
Worldwide Cases: 14,569,133 (+ 1,672,436)
Worldwide Deaths: 607,166 (+38,580)
Worldwide Mortality Rate: 4.16% (-0.24%)
Worldwide Mortality Rate (without US): 4.34% (-0.18%)
US Cases: 3,877,501 (+519,527)
US Deaths: 143,177 (+5,748)
US Mortality Rate: 3.69% (-0.4%)
US Total Recovered: 1,789,139 (+298,415)
Florida/Collier Cases: 350,047 (+95.536) / 7,815 (+1,847)
Florida/Collier Deaths: 4,985 (+788) / 107 (+13)
Florida/Collier Mortality Rate: 1.42% (-0.22%) / 1.36% (-0.21%)

Mortality rates are coming down, which is something we can all be thankful for. Interestingly, the mortality rate in Florida is less than half that of the US average - which seems hard to believe. We know Florida is playing with the numbers, but that is the best data we currently have so...that’s what we’ll use.

Of course, even those who survive Covid-19 are pretty screwed in the long run. Among the things caused by long-term damage done are:
* Abnormal blood clotting
* Brain damage
* Cardiomyopathy
* Chronic fatigue
* Deep vein thrombosis
* Dementia
* Heart attack
* Loss of limbs
* Loss of fingers and toes
*
Male infertility
*
Memory loss
*
Nerve Damage
*
Psychosis
*
Pulmonary embolism
*
Renal failure
*
Scarring of lung tissue
*
Stroke

Even after surviving Covid-19, it is the gift that keeps on giving, leaving a wide assortment of permanent afflictions to torment survivors. Those long-term items listed there? They can develop in those who had mild, or even asymptomatic cases of Covid-19. You can never know that you were infected, and then develop the above problems.

To make matters even worse, studies of Covid-19 antibodies are showing that the antibodies may not remain in the body. Not only does this mean that you may show long term damage without ever truly knowing if you had Covid-19, but it also allows for potential reinfection down the road.

Even with all of this, we in the US plunge forward with what appears to be a maniacal determination to spread the virus until every one of us has been infected. It’s terrifying. People are dying. Close to 150,000 US citizens are already dead and, just like the corpses of children murdered at school, it has changed nothing in our national discourse. People are still refusing to wear masks, going so far as to hold mask burning parties, and even stabbing and shooting employees demanding that they wear a mask to enter a business.

Our nation has lost its way, and its sanity.
