Disasters in Slow Motion (pt. 30) - Aug 16, 2021

No wonder #DeathSantis and his administration are slow in releasing Covid numbers.

Florida 8/10
Cases: 2,827,450 - Infected: 1 in 8
Deaths: 39,934 - Death Rate: 1 in 542 - Mortality Rate: 1.41%
Active Cases: 481,777 - Active: 1 in 45

Florida 8/16
Cases: 2,925,074 - Infected: 1 in 7
Deaths: 40,584 - Death Rate: 1 in 533 - Mortality Rate: 1.39%
Active Cases: 572,002 - Active: 1 in 38

In SIX DAYS Florida has reported 97,624 new cases, 650 new deaths, and our ACTIVE cases have risen by 90,225. Florida is posting over 16,000 new case of Covid PER DAY. The US as a whole is reporting around 31,000 new cases per day. Do the math.

Meanwhile, our governor continues to double down on his "freedoms" idiocy - refusing to take action to protect the lives of his constituents. Meanwhile...

Court says Florida can’t block cruise line from requiring vaccines: Florida's action ruled as unconstitutional.

DeSantis threatens to withhold funding from school districts who mandate masks.

Yup, when the teachers died he suddenly started singing a different tune. Expect that to continue. #DeathSantis will continue to get people killed while claiming to be standing up for their freedom, while preemptively overriding governments throughout the state who are better equipped to take action locally.

Simply put, DeSantis doesn't care about your elected mayor, school board, or county government. He believes he knows better and people continue to die.
