Disasters in Slow Motion (pt. 31) - Aug 22, 2021
I said I'd update my numbers, so let's see where we are at now and how the passage of time has impacted those numbers. Keep in mind that numbers for 8/22 not yet available but, since the 8/16 numbers were from earlier in the day I'm giving Florida the benefit of the doubt of 6 days having passed instead of 5.
Florida 8/10
Cases: 2,827,450 - Infected: 1 in 8
Deaths: 39,934 - Death Rate: 1 in 542 - Mortality Rate: 1.41%
Active Cases: 481,777 - Active: 1 in 45
Florida 8/16
Cases: 2,925,074 - Infected: 1 in 7
Deaths: 40,584 - Death Rate: 1 in 533 - Mortality Rate: 1.39%
Active Cases: 572,002 - Active: 1 in 38
Florida 8/21
Cases: 3,086,559 - Infected: 1 in 7
Deaths: 41,990 - Death Rate: 1 in 516 - Mortality Rate: 1.36%
Active Cases: 722,052 - Active: 1 in 30
So, in five days we have seen 161,485 new cases (an average of a whopping 26,914/day) 1,396 new deaths (roughly 233 deaths/day), and approximately 3% of the overall Florida population CURRENTLY is infected.
On the 16th, the US was recording 31,000 new cases per day and now, in Florida alone, close to 27,000 new cases per day while the US is recording over 90,000 new cases per day.
Even more stunning?
New Cases Reported 8/21
United States - 90,782
Florida - 22,133 (24.3% of ALL new cases that day)
